Chris Tucker returns to the big screen after a six-year absence as he reunites
with the all-star team of co-star Jackie Chan, director Brett Ratner (Rush Hour,Rush Hour 2, X-Men: The Last Stand, Red Dragon), and writer Jeff Nathanson
(Rush Hour 2, Catch Me If You Can) to deliver the third installment of the
blockbuster Rush Hour franchise. Rush Hour 3 sees Tucker and Chan reprise their roles as LAPD Detective James
Carter and Royal Hong Kong Police Chief Inspector Lee. This time around, Lee
(Chan) is on special assignment as bodyguard for Chinese Ambassador Han,
who is scheduled to deliver a major address before the World Criminal Court
Summit in Los Angeles. In his speech, Han plans to reveal the inner-workings
and identities of the Chinese Triads—the world’s foremost criminal syndicate.
Carter (Tucker), meanwhile, has been consigned to far less prestigious policework,
demoted to LAPD traffic cop for bungling an arrest.
When Carter hears over his police radio that Ambassador Han has just been shot
during his speech, he speeds to the scene to assist, but succeeds only in
disrupting Lee’s hot pursuit and allowing the assassin to escape. Carter,
determined to regain his detective badge, insists on helping Lee track down the
assassin and solve a mystery surrounding the Triads.
The unlikely duo of the irrepressible Carter and the antithetically dutiful Lee follow
the evidence to Paris, where the next WCC summit is only days away. Once
there, they quickly find themselves in over their heads as they battle and banter
their way through Paris, the French police, and the perilous Triads.
